Hit the roads this morning for my Week 2 easy run and actually listened to the instructions for once. Kept it at 6:07/km, which felt almost too relaxed at first, but that's the whole point. I'm learning that "easy" means easy, not "easy but let me sneak in a faster pace because I feel good." The 2.5 miles went by quickly, and I finished feeling like I could've kept going, which is exactly how these runs should feel.
The hardest part of marathon training so far isn't the long runs or speed workβit's forcing myself to slow down on days like this. My ego wants to push every single run, but my legs are already thanking me for the recovery pace. 24 and a half minutes of just moving, breathing, and not checking my watch every thirty seconds. Two weeks down, ten more to go.
